"Who Dis?": Tac
Updated: May 12
Big ups to this man! After watching him at The Beat DXB and listening to his releases, I can confidently say he will be amongst the best rappers in the Middle East. What I truly love about this guy is how relatable his lyrics are to the young arab generation. His words come out with the pure masterful lyricism as if the all mighty Biggie Smalls mentored him in the flesh. Let me put it this way, he is a force to be reckoned with. The growing underground scene will come with a growing audience, but also a growing competition. The ball is in his court to continue this momentum and rise on top of all the others.
Not going to bore you too much with my own words, so lets get into the man named Tac.
I usually like to answer this kind of thing, but I am making a song detailing everything, so I don’t want to say too much.
Hip hop ofcourse. I used to draw with charcoal back in the day. I am also a conversationalist. I really enjoy having conversations. Also cooking. I am a beast with the pots and pans.
Music Genres -
I LOVE Art Rock. Hip Hop is a no-brainer. I really enjoy Experimental music in general.
When did you become an artist?
The exact date is 12.12.12 I wish I was joking and making up a really cool rap origin story, but that is actually it.
What sparked this desire within you?
A big thing in my life is that I was always told that I couldn’t do anything myself. Everything I did made people trace it back to someone or something else. But This is the one thing in the world no one can take away from me. I am an incredible artist, and every single fucking thing about my rapping is mine and there’s not a soul on this planet that can tell me I am wrong.
Upcoming projects -
At the moment I am working on weekly content to have as many people hop on the ‘Tac Wave’ as possible. But me and P. Storm from The Recipe, are working on some thing. I dont wanna say too much. All I can say is that y’all ain’t never heard nothing like this. Ain’t nobody rap like this.
Your ambitions -
I have two goals as of now. One for my career and one for my life. In my career I’d like to become the greatest artist of all time, and to take the road less traveled and prove that it can be done that way. As for my life, I’d like to one day write a song that describes color to a blind person.
What is your take on the creative industry in dubai?
Man, if you asked me this question two years ago I would’ve laughed and asked “what creative industry?” But honestly, I am so amazed at how far we’ve gone from Dubai Street Jam to Sole DXB and The Beat, it’s incredible.
Your past and current challenges in anything -
Damn. I mean there’s always a constant struggle in my life one way or another.
One of my biggest issues in my past is feeling like I dont fit in anywhere; I still feel this way but now I love myself regardless of how people may see me.
What is your goto sundown/sunrise drive music?
Anything Childish Gambino or Anderson .Paak. That ‘Tints’ song was so fucking fire. Me and my boy Moussa rinsed the shit out of it.
Sneakers or slides?
SLIDES FOREVER. Yo, my favorite thing in the world is sweatpants, white socks and slides.Thats my drip.
BBQ and chill or party at the club?
I fucking hate clubbing holy shit. Its full of drunk white people and unapproachable Persian guys who wear too much perfume and Masris who just wanna ask you “Meneen men masr?”
Also, only person I ever wanna have BBQ with is Swerte. Boy can that man barbecue.
